A Note from Unicraft & Decor
At Unicraft & Decor, every bed is freshly crafted in our small family workshop. Because our products are made to order and completed shortly before delivery, customers may notice a mild “new furniture” smell right after installation. This is a normal characteristic of newly made wooden items.
Where Does the Smell Come From?
The light scent comes from the protective coating applied to the wood.
This coating is important because it helps shield the furniture from moisture, especially in our humid Malaysian climate, and reduces the risk of mold growth on the wood surface.
Every piece is sealed carefully to ensure long-lasting quality — and because the coating is freshly applied, a mild scent is expected in the beginning.
How Long Will It Last?
The scent gradually fades as the bed settles in your home. Duration depends on ventilation and weather:
Warm and sunny days: the smell usually fades faster
Cool, rainy, or monsoon months (October–March): it may take longer because the air is colder and more humid
With normal airflow, most households notice the scent getting lighter day by day.
For Customers Sensitive to Smells
Some individuals may be more sensitive to new scents. To ensure a comfortable experience:
✔ We recommend installing the bed at least one month before your child starts sleeping on it.
This gives the protective coating ample time to settle and for the scent to naturally fade.
Keeping windows open, using a fan and or purifier, or allowing the room to ventilate regularly can help the smell clear more quickly.
A Natural Part of Freshly Made Furniture
Because our beds are handcrafted and not stored in warehouses for long periods, the coating and wood are still very fresh upon delivery. A mild scent is simply part of receiving newly crafted furniture — and it will fade with time and airflow.
